In an organisation, processes exist without always being formally described. Some practices are passed on through experience, others are spread across different documents, while roles and decisions can remain implicit.
That makes discussions longer and trade-offs harder. People may know part of how work gets done, without having a clear, shareable view of the whole.

Business-process modelling creates a practical frame for showing the activities, roles, decisions and information flows that actually allow work to move forward.
A useful model does not attempt to show everything. It helps people ask the right questions: where does the process begin? Who is involved? What happens when a decision is needed? What information is required?
